Modumetal Announces Appointment of New Chief Executive

Energy Industry Leader Santosh Mathilakath Joins Nanolamination Technology Company to Supercharge Growth

Seattle, WA, August 18, 2022– Nanolamination technology company Modumetal announced today that Santosh Mathilakath, former Chief Executive Officer of LoneStar Group, has been named CEO of the company. Modumetal’s unique solutions significantly enhance the strength, safety and sustainability of engineered components and structures across many industrial applications. Mathilakath brings a wealth of experience as a veteran leader of multinational engineering, manufacturing & distribution businesses with a demonstrated history of managing industrial technology companies. For the past seven years, he served as CEO of LoneStar Group, the leading global provider of critical bolting and sealing products to energy, petrochemical, power generation and renewable energy markets.

Dennis Creech, who has served as Modumetal’s CEO since 2020, will continue to serve in a strategic capacity in his new role as Executive Chairman.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Santosh join our company and serve as our next CEO. He is uniquely well positioned to build on the strong foundation already in place,” said Creech. “He brings the growth-oriented leadership and expertise we need at this exciting time for our company as we expand Modumetal’s technology into new applications and industries.”

Modumetal’s products are produced through a patented, sustainable manufacturing process that enables production of nanolayered materials at an industrial scale and competitive price. Its first nanolayered coating systems create unprecedented improvements in corrosion resistance, durability, and strength over today’s commercially available coating systems. Having already proven its technology’s ability to far exceed the competition in corrosion performance in the world’s harshest oil & gas environments, the company has its sights set on commercializing new corrosion capabilities in both the automotive and renewable sectors.

“I am thrilled to join Modumetal and help the team rapidly commercialize this revolutionary technology. Corrosion remains one of the most challenging threats to asset integrity in the world, and Modumetal’s novel solutions to corrosion prevention have broad applicability both within and beyond the energy sector,” said Mathilakath.

“Modumetal has produced enhanced chemistries and robust processes to cost-effectively coat various components in automotive, an industry where corrosion prevention continues to be a challenge. Customers are enthusiastic about this solution, and this is an area where we will drive not only performance but also cost, cycle times, and environmental benefits. Our products will extend the life and safety of vehicles on the road–I am very confident our products will be highly disruptive here,” said Mathilakath.

To accelerate penetration in these end markets, Modumetal is developing licensing partnerships to drive adoption of its uniquely tailored anti-corrosion coating systems for these applications.

Mathilakath’s 30-year career has included leadership roles in manufacturing, engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain management in automotive, general industrial and energy industries. He is a mechanical engineer with graduate training in material science, design, and manufacturing, and he earned an MBA from Rice University.
